Hot Cocoa Board with Crockpot Cocoa Recipe

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — Hot Cocoa Season!

And the best way to celebrate is to have a hot chocolate party around a board full of all the fixin’s!  You can, of course, make your own cocoa (crockpot recipe included), but for on-the-go and around-the-campfire cocoa sipping parties, it is A-OK to just have thermoses of hot water and packets of your favorite drinking cocoas.

Layout this spread and spread the holiday cheer!

Ingredients

Cocoa Bar Fixin's:

  • Marshmallows
  • Candy canes, candy cane bark, and/or peppermint candy corns
  • Dipped chocolate stir sticks or Pirouette cookies
  • Whipped Cream
  • Coconut flakes
  • Chocolate covered espresso beans
  • Fudge
  • Meringues
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Madeleines, biscootti, and/or dipping cookies
  • Chocolates
  • Chocolates, caramels, and/or toffee bits
  • Chocolate sauce and/or caramel sauce
  • Coarse sea salt
  • Ground cinnamon

Crockpot Cocoa:

  • 10 cups whole milk
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup dark cocoa powder

Directions

Assemble the cocoa bar board by piling ingredients on a large tray or cutting board.  Use small containers with spoons for toppings that are more delicate and small.  Cover and set aside until ready to serve.

To make the crockpot cocoa, whisk ingredients together in a 5-quart crockpot.

Cover and cook on low for 2 hours, stirring occasionally with a whisk, until the mixture is hot and chocolate chips are melted.

Once the mixture is heated through and chocolate is melted, switch the slow cooker to the warm setting. Stir again before serving.

Serve with a ladle and invite guests to dig in and top their cocoa to their heart’s content.
