Chocolate Chip Cookies

The chocolate chip cookie seems to be as iconically American as Apple Pie and PeanutButter and Jelly Sandwiches!  It is the favorite go-to recipe in our family! These are everything a chocolate chip cookie should be. Crispy and chewy. Soft and buttery when fully baked, or crispened to perfection if you need a little crumble with your gooey chips!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar packed
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups chocolate chips, chunks, or chopped chocolate

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or a silicone slip pat baking mat.

In a medium-sized bowl whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl fitted with a paddle beat together the butter, brown sugar, and sugar until a fluffy consistency, about 3 minutes. Beat in eggs and vanilla until fluffy.

Blend in the remaining dry ingredients until just incorporated, don’t over mix. Finally, mix in the chocolate chips or chunks until evenly dispersed.

Roll about a 3 tablespoon pinch of dough at a time into balls and place them evenly spaced on your prepared baking sheets.

Bake in preheated oven for approximately 10-13 minutes depending on preferred doneness. For perfectly chewy, take them out when they are just starting to turn brown yet still look “doughy”.

Let them sit on the baking pan for 2 minutes before removing to a cooling rack.
