Coconut Mint Mojitos!

Treat yourself (and your friends) to a relaxing day of home spa treatments, while sipping Emily's delightful twist on a mojito.

Coconut Mint Mojitos:

Yield: 1 cocktail; Collins glass

Drink Ingredients:

2 ounces silver rum
¼ ounce coconut rum
½ ounce simple syrup
8 Mint Sprigs
½ lime
Chilled Soda Water

Garnish with mint sprig

In shaker add leaves from mint, crush and break in hands and squeeze half the lime over. Muddle until leaves are bruised.

Add ice to shaker then pour in the silver and coconut rum and simple syrup. Shake the drink until the shaker is frosty and drink is chilled through.

In a Collins glass packed with ice strain drink over, top with soda water, and garnish with sprig of mint.

For some extra kick, try adding some sliced jalapenos!

Having a party and need to make a large batch?

Increase to 2 L rum, ½ cup coconut rum, 1 cup simple syrup, a bunch of mint infused into simple syrup and 4 limes zested and juiced.

Spa Treatments!

Whipped Body Butter

Yield: 1 (16 ounce) jar

½ cup Shea Butter
½ cup Cocoa Butter
½ cup Coconut Oil
½ cup almond or olive oil
2 tablespoons mango butter
10-30 drops essential oils for scent

In a double boiler or glass bowl, combine all ingredients except essential oils. Bring to medium heat and stir constantly until all ingredients are melted.

Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Move to fridge and let cool another 1 hour or until starting to harden but still somewhat soft.

Use a hand mixer to whip for 10 minutes until fluffy.

Return to fridge for 10-15 minutes to set.

Store in a glass jar with a lid and use as you would regular lotion or body butter. If you keep your home warmer (above 75° F), it may need to be kept in the fridge.

Hand Soap

Yield: 1½ cups

1 cup distilled water
1 ounce pure castile soap (I prefer Dr. Bronner’s)
¼ teaspoon essential oil

In a large mixing bowl whisk the distilled water with the castile soap.  Add ¼ teaspoon of essential oil while the whipping together.

Fill pump bottles.

Adjust the fluidity by adding more or less water to the soap.

Body Scrub

Yield: 1 (16 ounce) jar

1 cup Epsom or sea salt
¼ cup sugar
½ cup coconut, almond, or olive oil
¼ cup dried flowers or spices
½ teaspoon essential oil
1 tablespoon edible glitter (optional)

Mix all ingredients in glass or metal bowl. Spoon into glass jars or gift bags.
